This week's question is from Melissa at Miel et Lait:  Which book blogger would you like to meet most in real life?

This is a tough one!  There are so many bloggers who I really admire and would love to meet.  I'm going to go with Jennifer from Reading With Tequila because I know I can count on her book recommendations.  If she liked it there is a good bet that I will like it too!

This week's question comes from Girl About Books:  Who's your all-time favorite book villain?

I think the cold has frozen my brain because I am completely blanking on my villains!  The only one I keep thinking of is Lord Voldemort from Harry Potter but I know I should be able to come up with more than that.  I think part of it may be that while I consider the 'good guys' in the books to have their adversary in the 'bad guys' I don't actually tend to think of them as villains.

Actually sometimes I do.  When I started my blog I really thought I would limit it to books and book related things.  Now though, I would like to expand a little doing reviews of other kinds of products or just some random thoughts.  While I know I can do that under Library Girl Reads, the name doesn't totally fit anymore.  This is why I started my Outside the Library feature so people who only want the book related stuff know they can skip over those posts.

I would love to see Kim Harrison's Hollows series turned into movies.  These books have such great characters and the stories cover a huge range of emotions.

I actually wasn't going to participate in the Hop this week because there has been so little going on here lately.  In fact my last post was last week's Book Blogger Hop!  Then I visited the linky and found out that my question was selected this week so I think I better jump in and answer it :-)

"What is the thing you like most about reading book blogs?  Is it the reviews, author guest posts, articles, giveaways, or something else entirely?"

I think my favorite part about book blogs are the reviews and author guest posts.  I have so much fun learning about new books and authors this way.  Of course, the giveaways are always fun too!

Things have been very quiet around here since Thanksgiving.  I've spent the last couple weekends traveling and just haven't had the time to read that I wish I did.  I'm currently really enjoying The Riddler's Gift by Greg Hamerton when I get the chance to sit down and read. It is actually a 2 part paperback so it is taking me longer than usual. I really hope to get it finished this weekend so I can review it.

I think next up on the reading list will be Beauty by Robin McKinley.  I borrowed it from my library to read for the Reading with Tequila Book Club on Goodreads.  I'm also anxiously awaiting my copy of Pale Demon by Kim Harrison that I'm getting through the Early Reviewers program at LibraryThing.

I really like this week's question:  "What very popular and hyped book in the blogosphere did you NOT enjoy and how did you feel about posting your review?"

This is actually a really easy one for me to answer: Mind Games by Carolyn Crane.  I had seen a lot of positive reviews of this book going around but I just couldn't get into it.  I read the entire thing but found myself annoyed with the characters a lot.  I think part of my difficulty was that it just wasn't the kind of book I had been expecting.  I was a bit nervous about posting my review because I knew so many people had enjoyed this book but I actually got a pretty positive response to it on the blog.

This week Jennifer asks us What we are thankful for and if we have any Thanksgiving traditions?

I am overflowing with thanks this year!  I have a wonderful, healthy family.  We moved into a great neighborhood with lots of kids for my daughter to play with.  My husband's job is going incredibly well this year!  I am blessed to be able to stay home with my daughter because he works so hard.  I love that we can easily travel to see my family so often but we do miss seeing my husband's family more.  I am thankful for friendship and support.  I am also very thankful to each of you who stop in to read the blog, the publicists who send me such great books and information, and the authors and publishers who work together in creating the stories that we enjoy.

As far as Thanksgiving traditions, we are still developing them as our family grows.  We spend my daughter's first Thanksgiving with my husband's parents, her second with my dad and his family, and this year will be the big family Thanksgiving on my mom's side.  We are very excited about meeting the newest baby cousin who was born just over a week ago.  I'm curious to see how my daughter will react if I get to hold the baby.

Book Blogger Hop 11/12

Last week Jennifer gave us a great challenge to comment five times on a new blog that we started following.  Unfortunately, I wasn't able to participate in the Book Blogger Hop last week so I missed this but I think it is a great idea and something I would like to challenge myself to do.

This week's book blogging question is:  If you find a book that looks interesting but is part of a series, do you always start with the first title?

Normally, I would say YES I must always start with the first book in the series.  I can't stand to read things out of order.  I've had one major exception to this and one that almost was an exception.  I actually started the Kitty Norville series with the most current book.  I saw Kitty Goes to War listed as a giveaway on Goodreads and decided to put my name in the hat.  I hardly ever manage to win anything from Goodreads so I really didn't have high expectations.  When I won, it was kind of an 'uh oh what do I do now?' moment because I hadn't read any of the other books.  I didn't want to take the time to read all of the other books in case I didn't like them so I just dove in.  It turned out to be great, as you can read in my review, and I know I'll go back and read the rest of the series at some point.

The other one was when I mis-read the email from a publicist and thought that the book she was talking about was the first in the series.  Shoulder Bags and Shootings turned out to be the third book in the series.  I went ahead and got the first book from the library since I wasn't that far behind in the series.  I was really glad that I had or I would have been lost!  I did skip the second book and you can read more about that in this review.

I definitely prefer starting at the beginning though!

Today is a special Book Blogger Hop for me because it is my daughter's second birthday!!

This week's book blogging question is:  When you read a book that you just can't get into, do you stick it out and keep reading or do you move on to your next title?

I think this is a very interesting question since many of us receive books for review and feel that we have to finish something because we committed to reviewing it.  A long time ago, I would have just kept reading.  I remember buying a book that I had looked at many times when in bookstores.  I was drawn to it so many times that I finally decided to get it.  Well, it turned out to be so boring!  I don't mind long books but long, boring books are not for me.  I had spent money on it though so I finished it even though I was not enjoying it at all.  I think after that was when I finally gave myself permission to give up on a book.  There are way too many other things to read!  At this point, I've had some review books that I didn't care for but none that I truly couldn't finish.  I will give a review book more of a chance than a library book or even one off of our own shelves that my husband says I need to read.  I don't think I would be able to do a review on a book that I couldn't read completely though even if I stated that I did not finish the book.

I didn't realize until today that it has been nearly a month since I've been hopping.  Last week, I was out of town but I have no idea what my reasons were for the weeks before that.  I've come back to a great question though:  What's your favorite beverage while reading or blogging, if any? Is it tea, coffee, water, a glass of wine, or something else?

I am a tea drinker, all day long.  I started drinking tea with my grandmother and it seems that all the women on that side carry the tradition.  I love it that my daughter already loves to have tea parties (with water and animal crackers!).  One thing that I find interesting though is that I do not like iced tea much.  So in the summer I'm more likely to have a glass of water with some lemon.  On very rare occasions, I will treat myself to a White Chocolate Mocha from Starbucks or one of their seasonal beverages if it is one I really enjoy.  This mainly happens when someone gives me a gift card or I earn one through Swagbucks or MyPoints.

This is a tough one because I have reviewed so many great books in the past three months.  One of my favorites though is my review of Changes by Jim Butcher, which is the 12th book in the Harry Dresden series.  I absolutely love this series and it was a great book!

This week's question is: Do you judge a book by its cover?

Yes, I know I do.  Most often when I am just randomly browsing online or in a bookstore with no idea of what I'm really looking for.  Then covers do have an enormous impact.  A cover can catch my eye in a positive or negative way and this has the most influence when the author is one I am unfamiliar with.  If it is an author I already know and love, I might roll my eyes if they get a bad cover but it isn't going to stop me from reading the book.

I have 157 blogs in Google Reader and the majority of those are book blogs.  I tend to subscribe to non-book blogs by email so I"m sure I've probably got at least another 15 or more that I get that way.  Even that many can be way too much to keep up with at times so I go through on occasion and delete inactive blogs or ones that I just haven't visited in a long time.

I definitely cannot listen to music while I read!  I can't have the TV on in the background either.  I need it to be very quiet or I lose focus.  I am getting a lot better at tuning out my daughter's movies though!

This is a tough one for me because I really tend to stick with authors I know and love.  Actually I can pick two:  Gail Fraser and Heather Webber.  Gail Fraser is the author of the Lumby series which I've been working on this year after receiving The Lumby Lines for review.  Heather Webber writes the Lucy Valentine books.  I won the first one, truly, madly, from Goodreads and can't wait to read the next one in August.

I'm actually in between books at the moment.  I recently finished The Reckoning by Kelley Armstrong.  I want to get the review for that written before I start reading Shoulder Bags and Shootings by Dorothy Howell.  Overall, I mostly enjoyed The Reckoning, although I do have some mixed feelings about it as you will see in my review.

I'm quite behind in some of my series right now so I'd love to get a copy of Frostbitten by Kelley Armstrong.  I'm also really looking forward to the next book in that series, Waking the Witch, because it stars one of my favorite of Armstrong's characters.  Another one I'm waiting on is Deeply, Desperately by Heather Webber.  This is the second book in the Lucy Valentine series and I absolutely loved the first one.

Each weekend, Jennifer at Crazy-For-Books hosts the Book Blogger Hop.  I've missed participating in the last few weeks because of vacation and just plain busyness.  The Book Blogger Hop is a great way for book lovers and book bloggers to come together and discover new book blogs.

Recently Jennifer added a question to the Hop so we can get to know our fellow book bloggers better.  This week's question is:  Tell us about some of your favorite authors and why they are your favorites!

This one is hard for me because I have so many favorite authors!  Right now I absolutely love Patricia Briggs because her world building is so complete, the characters have depth, and the stories are fast paced.  Jim Butcher's Harry Dresden series has lots of action but includes humor at times as well.  Kelley Armstrong and Kim Harrison are also favorites because they focus on strong female characters.

If you have hopped over from the Mr. Linky, Welcome!  I hope you will stay a bit and look around.  I haven't been able to participate in the hop for a few weeks so I'm glad to be hopping again.  I review a wide range of books including (but not limited to!) urban fantasy, young adult, contemporary fiction, historical fiction, chic lit, cozy mystery, and some non-fiction.  I also have a regular monthly giveaway, with the June Giveaway ending very soon.  There are 10 books to choose from this month.  Unfortunately, I do have to limit these giveaways to the USA only.

I love comments to please don't be shy :-)  Unfortunately I've had to turn on comment moderation for a while because I was getting hit with spam.  I try to get comments approved and posted quickly though.
