Books #BlogFlash2012 Day 15

Books are clearly one of my favorite subjects since my blog is based around them. So today I was planning on having something eloquent to say, maybe even a poem. Instead those cute kids from yesterday's post kept me up half the night and were cranky this morning so you get the ramblings of a tired and grumpy mom.

Our house is overflowing with books. My books, his books, our books, the kids books. Books are everywhere. The living room, the loft, the bedrooms, the toy room, even the dining room. It would be hard to find a room in this house that doesn't have at least one book. Our books used to be organized. I had the fiction in alphabetical order by the author's last name and every series was in order too. Non-fiction may not have been in library order but at least it was grouped by subject on its own bookshelf. My father-in-law laughs that the librarian comes out at home but hey at least I could find my books! Now my older daughter has rearranged them, moving the books from one bookshelf to another, putting them in random piles on shelves, and carrying them off who knows where. At least most of the books that I actually need to read are in our bedroom so she hasn't gotten to those. My review books are piled on the night stand and the books that I just want to read take up the bottom two shelves of our bookcase (yes, they are double stacked). We still have books in boxes from when we moved and before we moved we donated a LOT of books to the library to thin our collection a bit. Yep, we are just slightly obsessed with books around here!

  1. I love that! I was brought up in a house with books and love them too. A house without books is a house of boredom to me!

  2. Sounds like the perfect house to me. My dad was a prolific reader and I got my love of reading from him, so I grew up surrounded by books, still am and I love it!
    Great post!

  4. It sounds as though you have a librarian in the making in your daughter, Angela!

  5. We're obsessed with books over here as well. Sounds like you have a larger library than we do. Our Amish friend made us two six foot tall bookcases. When he was finished and we had put all our books on them he was surprised we had filled up all the shelves. I told him we may have to have him make us more. We have more books!
