truly, madly by Heather Webber

Truly, Madly: A NovelTitle:  truly, madly
Author:  Heather Webber
Publisher:  St. Martin's Paperbacks
Publication Date:  February 2, 2010
Format: Paperback, 305 pages
Age Group:  Adult
Series:  Lucy Valentine (1)

Lucy Valentine's family is in the matchmaking business, having been given the gift of making matches by Cupid himself.  Lucy is expected to inherit the business and her father places her in charge when he must go on vacation.  Unfortunately for Lucy, her gift for making matches transformed into the gift of finding lost objects when she was a teenager.  Meeting clients and trying to run the business complicate Lucy's life when she sees a lost engagement ring on the finger of a skeleton.  Add in the handsome private investigator working in the office upstairs and Lucy has the recipe for romance and mystery.

I absolutely adored this book!  Lucy is a charming character whose desire to help others and lack of self-confidence get her into some interesting and humorous situations.  Webber keeps the pace of the novel moving quickly and tosses in twists that I certainly didn't see coming.  truly, madly was a quick read for me because I didn't want to put it down.  I don't generally describe books as 'fun' but that is exactly what this book is for me.  It is light, entertaining reading that left me wanting to read more about Lucy, Sean, and the rest of Lucy's family and friends.  Thank goodness there will be at least two more novels about Lucy and possibly more.

truly, madly officially goes on sale February 2, 2010 but of course you can pre-order it now.  I received an advance reading copy of the book through the giveaway program at Goodreads for the purposes of providing an honest review.

  2. ck.twilighter - Thanks for the comment! The genre on this one is a little hard to pin down. Over all I guess I would say it is chick lit with elements of paranormal, mystery, and romance. I am totally not a romance reader but I really liked the romance in this. It doesn't take over the story but the developing relationship is very important if that makes any sense.
